I set it up so it automatically deletes the words that aren't appropriate in the forum. Kids as young as 7 visit the site. It's something I have to do to maintain some sort of order. There's many words out there...we don't need to use the same bad words each day. Using bad words all of the time would make you sound more illiterate in my opinion.

I agree with you about sounding more illiterate, but the system makes posts sound weird even when we use the words "normally". For example, "s*ck" isn't really a bad word unless you use it with "my" and another four letter word. And if you wanted to say a h*le in the ground, it would delete that too. It could at least change it to asterisks or something.

I didn't use asterisks because people will still know that a bad word was used. Most people who use those words you just stated are used in a negative manner. You can now use the word "hole" in a sentence, but you can't use the three letter a-word before that. As for the word s*ck, it's still a very negative word that should not be used in the forum.

I hope you can understand. If there are any other words you think should be used here that aren't allowed, let me know.

I could have sworn I put those in the bad words filter. Now those words are in there, so you don't see them in the post above. I put over 700 words in the bad words filter.

It's not really a problem, just kind of a nuisance to write a post and then have to rewrite it when a word used innocently gets completely removed. As for s*ck, I don't see how it's really that bad unless used in context, but it is your forum after all so you get to remove whatever words you want to.

Well, I doubt that most kids will use s*ck in the right context. You should know that kids as young as seven come to the site, so I have to do my best to remove anything that's not suitable for children. I know these days most 12-13 year olds know all of the wrong things, but I have to maintain order for younger kids.
